Southwestern  Schools Library

School Library Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:45am – 3:15pm

The Southwestern School District Library believes that reading is the foundation for students’ success in school and in their future. Each library offers a caring, helpful environment for students to browse, read quietly, and use computers for research, as well as locate and check out the materials.

Each Southwestern School Library from Kindergarten through 12th grade offers a large collection of printed materials and the 3M Cloud e-book library through the Illinois Heartland Library System.   By having this consortium, the staff, students, and community are able to order from over 650 libraries within the southern half of Illinois. A courier driver delivers weekly to the MSHS library for all buildings.

Students in the elementary libraries are allowed to check out 2 books for one week. At the MS/HS library, students may check out up to 5 books for a 2 week time period.  Students will be charged for any lost or damaged book.  A billing notice is sent via email or paper form and lost book fees should be paid by the end of the current school year.

Mrs. Albanese, the district librarian, is available at the MS/HS Library every day. Mrs. Sellers, the library media aide, is available at each elementary building throughout the week.
